Summer Garden

Our summer garden has had ups and downs. Our squash started out great but then the slugs ate it all. What the slugs didn't kill, I killed accidentally with the salt to kill the slugs. Live and learn.
Our romaine lettuce and swiss chard came out ok but didn't last long in the heat. It bolted two months ago. I will try lettuce again in the fall.
The cucumbers have been excellent, not as many as last year but that was by design. Last year I couldn't pick them fast enough.
Beefeater tomatoes did well until this big guy ate them all. He was so fat that he couldn't even run away. He's gonna be a heck of a butterfly.

I uprooted my old 10 foot tall sunflowers to harvest the seeds for birdseed and potted two pumpkin plants. I've never grown a pumpkin myself so I'm just curious what it will be like and maybe have them in time for Halloween.
I'm planning a fall garden full of flowers and herbs.
Every time I plant something, I learn something.
